As part of the Festival du Voyageur, the Youth sector of CDEM presented the workshop La poo di bufloo! to students in grades 5 to 11 in the Maison du Bourgeois, at Fort Gibraltar on February 14, 18, 19, 20 and 21.
La poo di bufloo! is a unique, interactive and costumed workshop. The students overcame various challenges, answered quick questions, and simulated a babywear. In a playful and festive atmosphere, the students had fun and expanded their knowledge about travellers and entrepreneurship in 1815. They also learned words in Cree, Michif and French.
The voyageur canoe is a true symbol of Canadian identity that has played a major role in the history of the fur trade. One of the most successful activities that CDEM Youth teams coordinated was the dressing of the canoe. The students painted a canoe designed specifically for the Festival du Voyageur and the result is brilliant.
