Employment and Immigration Counsellor

CDEM is looking for dynamic, independent, and creative candidates to fill the position of Employment and Immigration Counsellor in Manitoba. Candidates must be bilingual (oral and written).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify community needs for Francophone immigration in terms of employability in Canada.
  • Develop a working tool that will help identify clients with an easier integration to Manitoba and refer them to the province.
  • Develop and administer a client survey to determine their satisfaction and improve the services offered by CDEM
  • Develop promotional material (videos, articles, etc.) to promote Francophone immigration to Manitoba
  • Create a network of employers and make them aware of the importance of hiring French-speaking employees. (Meetings will be online for the time being and will be in person after the COVID-19 situation)
  • Develop a complete inventory of French / bilingual positions available in Manitoba by occupation, based on partnerships with employers
  • Lead a virtual community including all immigration clients and volunteer employers
  • Analyze applications for exploratory visits
  • Create partnerships with other employability organizations to facilitate the professional integration of newcomers
  • Perform any other reasonable task as assigned by the director

Requirements :

  • Completed post-secondary education or a combination of experience and education in employment counselling, career development, social services, human resources development or a related field;
  • Fluency in French and English, oral and written;
  • Demonstrated skills in independent and collaborative work;
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills, detail-oriented and ability to work independently;
  • Creative thinker with a high standard of quality and precision;
  • Proficient computer skills;
  • Dynamic and confident in public speaking;
  • Ability to travel independently;
  • Have a valid driver's license and access to a vehicle.


Contract details: Full time until March 31, 2021, competitive benefits package.
Starting date: As soon as possible.
