The application period for La Fosse aux lions (Lions’ Den) has started. This major pitch competition for Francophone entrepreneurs in Manitoba is back for an 11th edition. The grand finale of this competition, presented by the Economic Development Council for Manitoba Bilingual Municipalities (CDEM), will take place on April 12 at the Théâtre Cercle Molière.

A promising grand finale

During the final competition on April 12, four entrepreneurs will compete for the grand prize of $15,000 as well as a special prize in collaboration with the World Trade Centre Winnipeg for the business with the most trade potential. Each finalist will present their business using a 2-minute video produced by Radio-Canada Manitoba, then will have 5 minutes to defend their business project and 5 minutes to answer questions from the judges. The goal is to convince them of the quality of the project and detail the impact a victory would have on their business. After the judges’ deliberation, the winning entrepreneur will be revealed at the end of the evening.

New this year: the Fosse aux lionceaux (Lion Cubs)

A new feature of this 11th edition of the Fosse aux lions 2023 is the Fosse aux lions (Lion Cubs). “La Fosse aux lionceaux” is aimed at young French-speaking entrepreneurs aged 14 to 21. They can register on the CDEM website for a chance to win a $300 grant and the filming of a promo video that will be broadcast during the grand finale of the Fosse aux lions on April 12.

Whether for the Fosse aux lions or the Fosse aux lionceaux, all interested businesses can register here until February 2. Good luck, everyone!
