The municipality of St. Laurent celebrates its history and the Michif-Français Heritage Centre

On March 8, the municipality of St. Laurent welcomed Dr. Cynthia Chavez Lamar to celebrate her contributions to the community. In 2004, she collaborated with St. Laurent residents to develop a Smithsonian exhibition showcasing the lives of the Métis people in the region. This exhibition remained on display for 11 years.

Building on this legacy, St. Laurent has been working on the development of the Michif-Français Heritage Centre, a $15 million project that will house the Smithsonian exhibition.
